Sophia Frilot

Sophia Frilot (she/her) was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated from Orange County School of the Arts in the Commercial Dance Conservatory. Simultaneously, she trained at Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy and Westside Dance Project under the direction of Jessie Riley. At Westside, she developed her love for concert dance where she worked closely with Spenser Theberge, Bret Easterling, Jermaine Spivey, Michaela Taylor, and Bryan Arias. Sophia received the Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Grand Prize for dance and the Young Artist Scholarship from the Laguna Dance Festival.  In 2019, Sophia was named a National YoungArts Foundation Winner in Modern/Contemporary dance. She has attended summer programs including b12, Arts Umbrella, Ballet BC, and GagaLabs in Tel Aviv and New York. At The Juilliard School, she performed works by Ohad Naharin, Hofesh Shechter, Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber, among others. In addition to this, she has danced in music videos for SIA and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. She extends endless amounts of love and gratitude towards her family and friends for their unwavering support. Sophia is looking forward to joining Nederlands Dans Theater 2.
